On our way home from Logan the other day, we saw a billboard which said this:
'Make your inner beauty jealous.'
It was advertisement for a cosmetic surgery clinic.
It was quiet in our car. And a few minutes later we both started discussing how disturbing this billboard was.
It sorta makes me sick to think of the type of person you'd have to be to decide that your outer beauty is more important then your inner. It's quite disgusting to think there could even possibly be a person who felt the shallow beauty on their surface should be the most beautiful thing about them. More beautiful then their heart, their compassion, their wit, their intelligence, their ability to solve problems, their talents...
I don't care who you are or what type of cosmetic magic you think you could perform... no outside beauty will ever be more beautiful then the ability to determine how to make your family happy, how to bring peace to your community, how to celebrate life and achievements, how to serve locally and globally.
And it's really just sad that anyone would see this sort of advertisement and believe that outer beauty, and created by the hand of a man anyway, should ever supersede the beautiful emotions, mentality, and personality that comes from the inside.
And I don't care how beautiful you are... if your focus is on your appearance, you aren't really that beautiful.
Anyway, afterwards I said to Rob, "Bad words are reserved for people [the cosmetic surgeons who try to trick us into thinking it's about how we look, not who we are] like that". Rob got really dramatically mad and said, 'Like STINKER BUTT!!' Haha. Sometimes I think I married a 4 year old..
But I really do appreciate his innocence. :)

Total stinker butts.
Dev and I saw that billboard too and had a similar discussion.
We also heard a radio commercial a few days ago where a guy was making balloons at children's parties to earn money and his friend was making fun of him for his job and telling him to just quit his job and go get a title loan on his car and it will solve all of his problems and he'll never have to work for parties again.
(face palm)
Who comes up with this stuff?
I've seen that billboard and had similar thoughts too. It's messed up! Well said.
