Every Mom Deserves a Party!!

My sweet mom had a birthday last week. I realized a few months ago that I couldn't recall a time when she had a 'party'.

Sure we had Sunday gatherings for cake and ice cream... But I'm talking about a full on party entirely centered on her?

So, I began preparing for the best party ever! I just wanted to share some things I did for the shin dig and all the fun we had!!!

I love you momma!!

We enjoyed a light dinner and goodies in a friends beautiful backyard (Thank you Melissa!)

Our youngest guest, Emily, checking out the delicious Tookies!

Do they look delicious? Because they are evilly rich and wonderful. I got 12 different kinds!

The trays I made from dollar store serving plates and candle sticks. I just painted them and glued them. I got the idea here.

The food table, our favorite table. Haha. We had chicken salad sandwiches (thanks Erica!!) Turkey Cranberry sliders, chips, grapes, carrots, cupcakes (Thanks Erica!!), Tookies and eclairs (Thanks Melissa!!).

Do you like my paper flowers I made?  I got the idea here.

(I thought I took more pics of them... but I didn't... this is the best I got!) :(

Aren't those cupcakes royalty worthy? Erica made them, she could open a shop!!! The butterflies came from here and I made those cupcake stands following this blogs idea.

We played the clothes pin game, with three words you can't say all night or you lose clothes pins.
The words were: Terri, No, Fun.

I was the first to lose all mine... and never had one for longer than 2 minutes all night! I couldn't stop myself!!

We made mod podged pumpkins like this:

Stinkin fun and easy. Here's some guests making their 'kins!

My sister Shanna. No resemblance. I'm not that gooofy. :) Love you Nana!!

My momma. <3. Happy Birthday!
(See those fabric tassels in the back? I made those as well. Got the idea here. They are so adorable and I plan to keep them up in my house!!)

Melissa,Shanna's sister in law, who's home we invaded for this party. Her home and yard are so beautiful. It was perfect to be outside!! Thank you Melissa, you are so wonderful!

Laura, Shanna's other sister in law, whom I love and adore!!

My cousin Kimberley. She came up from Snow to party with us!

My lovely aunt Wendy. Terri's bff and best pal for ever.

We also were all given a random question that we had to ask my mom through out the night. Questions like "Justin Bieber is the heartthrob of youth today. Who was the heartthrob of your time?" My mom said the Beatles here and her favorite was Paul McCartney. It was a fun activity because it kept the conversation about my mom.

We played a left/right game where everyone got gifts and I told silly stories about my mom's life.

Melissa with my other sister in law Liz... She came from Indiana to have her boy baptized. Luckily it was planned the same weekend as this party, so she could come! I know it meant a lot to my mom to have her there, and me too!! Love you lots Liz!!

My sister in law Erica. She's the fantastic one with the cupcakes. I look up to her!!

We also played the 'I've never' game with jelly beans. That was a hoot! Kim won because she kept saying things like, 'I've never been married' 'I've never kissed a boy'... everyone else is married with kids! Haha... Good job Kim.

Here's a blurp about my mom I shared during the left right game. When she was in college at Dixie, her roommate was to go on a blind date to prom. The date was coming to the dorm to pick her up so my mom thought it would be funny to trick her roommates blind date. She got a really old fashioned dress and did her hair and make up so ridiculously ugly, yet real, and went down to meet her friends date, pretending she was her friend. All the girls in the dorms heard what was happening, so they covertly watched to see how the guy would react. My mom was so forward and so ridiculous looking. She put her arm around him and kept talking to him all nerdy like. She was so good at playing her part that the guy actually RAN out of the dorm, with the intention to never return again. The 200 girls in the dorm were all rolling with laughter. My mom's roommate came down and ran after her date to reveal it was all a joke and she was actually his date, not my dressed up silly mom. Isn't she a hoot?! I just love her.

Well that's all. I think I'll go into party planning cause man that was fun!! I loved also crafting for it. I even made little boxes out of cardstock that color coordinated with the decorations so everyone could take a cupcake home. I learned a ton and everyone had a blast. It was fun to watch everyone laugh all night.
